Meet Emily Coleman: Our new Marketing Assistant at Marketigation Digital Marketing Townsville
In July 2022, Emily joined the Marketigation team as a Marketing Assistant. Her responsibilities at Marketigation are social media marketing, website optimisation, content writing, and marketing audits. Emily prides herself on being goal driven, passionate and enthusiastic with a love of learning.
Emily’s Education at JCU
Emily is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Business with a Marketing major alongside a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and International Relations. She is coming into her final year of study and is in her fourth year overall.
During her studies, she has had the opportunity to network and learn from a variety of expert mentors who have taught her so much about the industry. Emily has found her passion for marketing stems from the fast-paced nature of the industry and takes particular interest in international marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO). Recently, Emily has been able to utilise mentors within her Work Integrated Learning Internship at the Townsville City Council to refine her marketing knowledge and has been learning transferable skills that assist her with the undertaking of both macro and micro projects.
Professional Experience, sales, marketing and beyond
While studying her Bachelor of Business, Emily honed over two years of experience in sales. She learned that she loves the sales element of marketing and that it felt like a natural skill to her. Her success within this industry, becoming the top salesperson out of over 60 stores Australia wide, taught her how to build and maintain strong client relationships. Furthermore, she learnt the importance of the effective marketing of a service and gained practical knowledge to achieve this on top of her academic learnings.
Getting Personal – What does Emily do outside of digital marketing
Emily was born and raised in England and moved to Australia when she was 7 years old. She has always had a drive for working, taking her first ever shift at McDonalds on the day of her 14th birthday. After a few barista jobs, waitressing and cleaning through the COVID-19 Pandemic, and of course working in retail sales, Emily finally found a job advertisement for a Marketing Assistant at Marketigation. This was her dream job, so she was overjoyed when she found out that she had been offered the position! The opportunity to utilise her Marketing degree and gain practical digital marketing knowledge from a well-respected businesswoman and marketeer such as Hanna really appealed to Emily. In her free time Emily enjoys creating music, reading, watching documentaries, and playing football (soccer).
