Your free social media checklist

1. SELECT YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKS

Assess available social networks, e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Google My Business, Instagram and YouTube. Evaluate how much potential each of them has for your business. Choose 1 or 2 most potential and interesting network(s) to concentrate on. It’s better to master one social platform at the time, instead of trying to juggle between all of them at once. Based on all social media checklists this is the most important first step.

2. RATE YOUR EXISTING CONTENT

Go through your 10 last social media posts. Evaluate them in terms of quality, relevancy, consistency and variation. Additionally, assess how much value they add to your followers. Moreover, has the 80%/20% rule been applied to your content? Score each individual post. Finally, give an overall score to your social content.

Content marketing

3. COMPILE A LIST OF CONTENT TOPICS

Organise a brainstorming session with key stakeholders in your company. Additionally, come up with a list of potential content topics for your social channel. Include any content ideas – even the silliest ones – in the list at this stage. It’s important that the list has as many ideas as possible. Furthermore, it’s essential to have enough variation amongst content topics not to make our followers bored.

4. CREATE A CONTENT PLAN

Work off your content topics list. Firstly, choose the best and the most potential content pieces. Secondly, organise them into a plan format, including who will do what and by when. Additionally, start off with a monthly content piece and ramp it up. Vary blogs, write-ups, videos, fact sheets, worksheets, checklists, info graphics and models. However, keep things simple, realistic and manageable at first.

5. SET YOUR SOCIAL METRICS

Establish social KPIs for your business. Social KPIs include actual metrics to follow, as well as specific objectives to reach. For example, if one of your KPIs is number of Facebook likes, then you should also set a tangible goal, like 2,000 page likes by the end of this year. Possible social KPIs can be reach, engagement, traffic, conversion or ROI. Most importantly, set ambitious yet realistic and achievable goals. Additionally, follow progress weekly and take necessary actions quickly to improve.

6. EXECUTE YOUR SOCIAL CONTENT PLAN

Point a dedicated employee to execute your social plan and follow KPIs. The dedicated social media representative should also report progress to management and stakeholders. Ensure the social media representative has enough knowledge and time to effectively manage the channel. If you have problems in keeping it up, ask help from our experienced social media experts.

7. TEST PAID SOCIAL ADS

When your “non-paid” social content is performing, tap into the paid side. Firstly, choose your best performing content piece. Secondly, boost that post first as a baseline. Thirdly, plan dedicated high converting content specifically for paid ads. That can include any content that’s highly beneficial and relevant to your target group. Remember the importance of careful segmentation and proper testing. Finally, use a dedicated Landing Page and test on an ongoing basis to improve.

8. EVALUATE YOUR CURRENT MARKETING EXPERT

Ask your marketing consultant for your social and content plan and schedule. Additionally, ask them how your KPIs are performing, and what your ROI is, including their consulting fees? If your ROI is less than 3, contact Marketigation today at 0431 372 622 or info@marketigation.com. Schedule your free 60-minute social and content consultation with us.
